  1.      DOS ASSISTANT - QUICK USE INSTRUCTIONS

  3.      To load the DOS Assistant program into your computer's memory, place 
  4.      your help program diskette in drive A: and enter: 
  5.           
  6.            A>ASSIST
  7.  
  8.      Now press the "Return" key and  a copyright notice will be displayed 
  9.      on the screen. Pressing the "Alt" and "H" keys at the same time will 
  10.      display the help window.  Press the "H" key to display a list of the 
  11.      help program's commands. Pressing "H" will scroll the help line 
  12.      forward and pressing "Back Space" will scroll it backwards.

  14.      Use the "PgUp", "PgDn", "Home" and "End" keys to page through the 
  15.      help index. The cursor keys may be used to move the highlighted bar 
  16.      over the description of a DOS command which you would like more 
  17.      information about.

  19.      Pressing the "Return" key will display detailed information about the 
  20.      highlighted DOS command. The paging keys may be used to page through 
  21.      the detailed help. Pressing the "Space" bar will return you to the 
  22.      help index.

  24.      Pressing "-" will move the window to the bottom of the screen and "+" 
  25.      will move it back up. To view the current time and date press "T". 
  26.      Pressing "T" a second time will remove the time and date.  
  27.  
  28.      To remove the window and return to DOS press the "Esc" key.  To leave 
  29.      the current help window on the display while you return to DOS, press 
  30.      the "Ctrl" and "S" keys at the same time. You may then enter a DOS 
  31.      command while viewing the selected help information. When you press 
  32.      the "Return" key to execute the DOS command, the help window will 
  33.      disappear until the next time you press the "ALT" and "H" 
  34.      keys at the same time.

  36.      PROGRAM OPTIONS
  37.  
  38.      DOS Assistant has several options which may be set by the user. The 
  39.      options may be set as follows.  
  40.  
  41.          A>ASSIST  /F /Kxxxx /M /T /?
  42.                
  43.      /F       Use fast screen display method. (may cause snow)
  44.           
  45.      /Kxxxx   Set "help key" to key "xxxx".  This allows you to select the 
  46.               keystroke which will activate the help window.
  47.                         
  48.      /M       Remove the program color.
  49.  
  50.      /T       Allow the program to run without becoming resident.
  51.      
  52.      /?       Display a list of these options.
  53.  
  54.      You can use the configuration program HELPCONF.COM to set any these 
  55.      options permanently to the program diskette.
